The Towson ARTS Collective begins 2012 with the Art and Healing
Exhibit, from Jan. 13 - Feb. 24 in the Towson Commons' handicapped
accessible gallery,* at the corner of York Road and Pennsylvania
Avenue. Julia Andersen, Sheppard Pratt Center for Eating Disorders
Art Therapist, juried exhibit, and is displaying the Love Your Tree /
Love Your Body sculpture so that visitors can write their comments on
paper leaves that will be added to the life-size tree. Two Artists
from California, Coeleen Kiebert, sculptor, and Jane Edberg,
photographer, in addition to several artists from the Baltimore area,
such as Ann Collins Adair, Alzaruba, Maggie Babb, Cricket Barrazotto,
Amanda Bechtel, Norm Dubin, Edna Emmet, Carrie Fucile, Joan Gaither,
Cinder Hypki, Paula Phillips, Jerry Seaton, Julia Kim Smith’s 100
Survivors project, featuring the photographs of Edie Windsor, Sharon
Strouse, Emily Tarsell, Kris Willett, Jones & Wilson Family, Jamie,
Annette, James, and Corinne. Members of SCALE, Snyder Center for
Aphasia Life Enhancement, a therapeutic program for stroke survivors,
are exhibiting their paintings and ceramics. In addition to artwork
involving healing of the mind and spirit. The range of images of
physical healing, such as surgery, depicted by Bo Na Kim, JHU Medical
Illustration Professor, and her students. California videographer,
Wallace Boss, will be on staff in the gallery, and invite visitors to
tell their stories about healing on video or on postcards that will
creative a community art piece. The exhibit will be open noon - 5pm
on Thursdays, Fridays, on Saturdays, and also by appointment. The
reception is from 6-8pm on Friday, January 20. Also visit the Towson
University Art Education Student Exhibit on display at TAC's
underground gallery 406 York Rd. during the January 20 reception.
Watch for costumed performers will appear on the 400 block of York
Road on January 20 to point visitors to the twin gallery receptions
that evening!

artists while being an art education center. TAC seeks to promote the
growth of greater Towson's art community by combining the knowledge
and energy of its residents and students with working professionals.
