Position: Treasurer
Overview
The Treasurer is a key officer of the Towson Arts Collective (TAC) Board of Directors, responsible for the financial stewardship of the organization. This role ensures that TAC maintains accurate financial records, complies with all reporting requirements, and supports the board in making informed financial decisions. The Treasurer works closely with the Executive Director and any outside accountants or bookkeepers to ensure TAC’s fiscal health.
Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely financial records for TAC.

Present financial reports at board meetings, including income, expenses, cash flow, and budget-to-actual comparisons.

Oversee the preparation of the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board and staff.

Monitor financial performance to ensure alignment with TAC’s mission, programs, and strategic goals.

Ensure that appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place and followed.

Oversee or coordinate filing of all required federal, state, and local tax and regulatory documents (e.g., IRS Form 990).

Manage banking relationships and oversee deposits, disbursements, and reconciliations.

Review and approve expenses, invoices, and reimbursements in accordance with TAC’s policies.

Support grant reporting and fundraising efforts by providing accurate financial data.

Work with outside auditors, accountants, or bookkeepers as needed.

Educate the board on financial matters to promote informed decision-making.
Qualifications

Experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping strongly preferred.

Understanding of nonprofit financial management and reporting is desirable.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to transparency.

Willingness to dedicate time to monthly board meetings and timely financial oversight.
Time Commitment

Attend quarterly Board of Directors meetings.

Provide monthly or quarterly financial reports.

Estimated 6–10 hours per month, depending on activities and reporting deadlines.
